EGOI 2027 · Warsaw
Call for problems
The EGOI 2027 Scientific Committee invites the programming community to contribute original problems for the olympiad in Warsaw. We welcome creative challenges across a range of difficulties.
Deadlines
Submission deadline: 10 January 2027
Event dates: 5–11 July 2027
Competition
Problems should challenge contestants to discover an algorithm, justify its correctness and translate it into a working program. Earlier EGOI tasks provide useful examples of the competition’s style.
There will be two five-hour rounds, with four tasks each. Proposals may be batch, output-only or interactive, within the IOI syllabus.
Acceptance criteria
We are looking for problems with the following qualities:
- Originality: a fresh idea that gives contestants something new to explore.
- Clarity: a precise, unambiguous statement.
- Engagement: an interesting algorithmic challenge. Explain what makes it worth solving.
- Appropriate difficulty: a solution within reach of EGOI contestants, with subtasks supporting different skill levels.
Previously published problems are not eligible. Authors still in high school cannot submit. Selected authors will be invited; EGOI covers their stay, while authors arrange their travel.
Submission
Please include the following in your proposal:
- Author information: provide full names, affiliations and email addresses.
- Problem statement: describe the task in English, including subtasks and expected difficulty.
- Solution: explain the intended algorithm and any alternative approaches.
- Supporting material: include required illustrations and assets; sample tests and implementations are encouraged, for example in C++ or Python.
Comments about challenging cases or the reasoning behind the task will help the committee understand your proposal.
Send your problem proposals to sc@egoi2027.pl by 10 January 2027.
Use one ZIP per problem. The committee will acknowledge submissions by email and select ten tasks, eight for the competition.
License and confidentiality
Competition tasks will be published under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) afterwards. Authors must grant EGOI exclusive use through 11 July 2027, inclusive.
Until then, authors, collaborators and others with access must keep accepted tasks and accompanying material confidential and must not reuse them, or variants, in competitions or training.
Authors coaching national teams should preferably pause coaching after acceptance. If continuing is unavoidable, their choice of training topics and problems must remain unaffected by knowledge of accepted tasks.
